Evening
Here I am again Mrs Easily Confused.
I looked on the list of members at where my name is and it says I have made 8 posts , sure thats not right so I looked up Wee Eck and it says he has done loads more

, does it automatically update ? And who is eating my posts up, is it that rascal Eck ? Oh and he has the notification of Homes4Hens there too but I don't

I just typed 2 posts and for the first time used the spell check. Both post are lost and I can not be asked to type what wellies i have and clothes I don't need. Someone else had typed a post on the same thread before I posted mine so maybe that is why I lost em.

Posts in the Coffee Lounge don't count towards your displayed post count. There's a long and sometimes painful history to this.

The concise version is that we wanted to encourage participation in the smallholding boards, back when we displayed the post count on every post, and displayed member groups. Basically the more posts you made the more 'advanced' your group, up to Super Hero Member. We felt that as a smallholding forum it was right to 'reward' contributions to the subejct forums above things like the word association game, where the post count racked up very quickly.

Thankfully that's all pretty much redundant now, since the only place your post count and member group is shown is on your profile page.

Maybe we should include Coffee Lounge posts in the count though, can't see any reason why not and it might help to avoid a domestic.

Thanks Dan, that makes sense and I can see why in the early days of the forum it may have been apt to 'reward' more significant contributions towards the intended theme of the forum.
I will endeavour to wander further than the coffee lounge in future
