Is it OK to feed cattle on the ground/grass?  Naturally if I go down this route I would choose a clean area free of faeces. Is there anything else I should be aware of?


Many of the nuts/pencils seem quite small so one of my concerns is potential wastage. Is it possible to get a general purpose cob for cattle (like you can for sheep)?

depends what you feed, hill cow cobs and ewe rolls would be ideal. Benefit is that you can feed on different areas each day and so the ground wouldn't get poached as it does with troughs
