Asparagus being eaten before picking
« on: May 27, 2009, 02:07:38 pm »
This is the first season for our asparagus. We planted crowns last year and did not pick any. This year they are thin sprue but something seems to eat them. I have put slug pellets down and occasionally see a hare in our field so I suspect the hare - Any  suggestions as to what is doing it ?

Well I looked up the pests on the internet but nothing seemed to match until  I came across the culprit this evening. I never thought  about my pest being a home grown veggie wife going for a walk and a nibble on the hoof !  I suppose you can't get it fresher than that.

Lack of communication there somewhere, eh? ;) ;D ;D
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
