dead cockerel

Lost our cockerel, he was find ,overnight he went very red in the head,
what is this?

Hi,sounds like he may have had to much sun,have your birds got plenty of shaded areas so they canto get out of it.
Overheating can be a big killer especially with the sudden heat wave a lot of the country has had over the past week.

Not a good week, lost three ducks to the fox, found a hen drowned in the duck pond,
then Mr cockerel.

Heading to a poultry sale, Sunday, to stock up again.
 
I was told Mr. may have had a heart at tact maybe all the ladies were to much for him.
 
Ihope i am not buying Mr foxy more dinner.

Our first cochin cockerel was said to have had a heart attack due to his ahem, workload. I don't recall him being very red in the head, he just went breathless and died on me within minutes.

Smallholding in Worcestershire, making goats milk soap for www.itsbaaathtime.com and mum to 4 girls,  goats, sheep, chickens, dog, cat and garden snails...
