broken horn on lamb- do I do anything?
« on: August 16, 2012, 07:43:02 am »
Good morning. Nice way to start the day with a lamb wrestling match. He's fairly tame too! His little horn has broken off (not completely- half way along).
I'm assuming it happened yesterday evening- I didn't see him but his mother had a bit of blood on her and I couldn't figure out why.
He's lively enough (headbutted me in the jaw) but it is still bleeding. I sprayed it with terramycin.
I hope that was right.
Does he need an antibiotic injection or anything?
Thanks, Joanne xxxx

No, that's all I do with a lamb, spray them with Terramycin and wait for them to stop bleeding.

If the bleeding is severe you can wrap cobwebs around, but this is usually only needed if the inner core is exposed.

I have had this happen. Even if there seems a lot of blood at first it will stop. yes good advice with the terramycin spray.
