We have about a hundred plus, we're in Wiltshire which might be a bit closer but maybe still too far?

So far I have been quoted £4-£5 a bale here. £5 being last years hay which sheep can be a bit fussy with.
If I had a big trailer or knew someone to travel the distance I'd come and get some as I was really budgeting about £3 a bale the difference between 100 bales at £3 is £300 and 100 bales  at £5 is £200 another 66 bales of Hay. Wanted to sort this out pretty quick, but seems not as easy as I thought it would be. :gloomy:

Don't panic Kaz.  Haymaking has been late this year due to the weather conditions but here (Yorkshire) we are getting a bumper crop just this week.  It may well be the same near you so previously predicted shortages may not be the case.  Don't pay over the odds for it just yet.  Good luck in sourcing some.  :fc:

Yep, The sun is finally blazing and the grass may be a bit older than when we cut last year, but it is smelling GREAT.  Dont know why, but the going rate here is down on last year - got 3.50/3.75 last year ex field, but £3 seems to be the price this year.  Might be due to their being more of it and slightly older? Anyone near Bala (north Wales) who wants some - PM me and come on down Sat eve!

Feh

£5 was the price last year when it didnt rain till bloody September. Now we had that sunny week, its been cut here and there is shedloads about so the price has dropped. I can easily get it for 2.50/blale in Hants/Wilts.

Don't get done on the price of hay, its cheap this year - the fodder market is a volatile thing.

I was quite pleased with what I got last year until I read that!!!! :huff: ;) .  So how do you find out a good average price to charge/pay, given the volatility?   Anyway, back to turning turning turning.... :sunshine: :excited:

Still hoping I'll have a surplus if the rain stays off. If I do the price is negotiable but I still haveto pay for the job.
What transport do you have?

There's a big difference between hampshire and mid wales weather wise so can't really generalize acoss the country.
