I have two Southdown X Suffolk ewes for sale. They are a year old and look like Southdown but with a beige (not sure right choice of colour, coffee may be more accurate) fleece I will put in the freezer later in year if I don't sell but they are really cute.

Are they in lamb? And are they tame?

I am not sure how to add pictures but have one on my phone if you want to PM me your mobile. Otherwise I will try and email to myself and attempt to show it here.

I did let them run with my smaller ram and my big ram took no notice when I mixed them however there are no clear indications at the moment that they are in lamb except they are rather round! Will look closer this weekend as moving my other pregnant ewes home to lamb.

They will come close but not as tame as others. Wouldn't take much though as I can catch them at feeding time and with a bit of time would happily feed out of your hand.

As I mentioned to Val I don't really know the market value of this breed however have been told cull ewes are selling for £100+! I was hoping to get £80 each for them.

You'll find the current prices for culls in the Farmers Guardian - they aren't making that money now, thats christmas time-ish when there are no sheep about.

As these are only shearlings and still useful as breeding ewes I would expect them to fetch a reasonable price. Pic attached a couple of posts ago. If no takers I will either take to market later in year or put in freezer/sell the meat as I can get £100-120 a lamb.

I wasn't saying 80 quid isnt reasonable, by the way. It seems bang on the money to me. Was just pointing out that you can find all the current market prices in the FG amongst other publications, so you know what sheep are worth week on week. Salisbury market also publsh weekly reports on their website.

I tried to attach two pictures so one is almost on its own in one pic and there are 3 in a row and the Southdown x is in the middle.

They are not big sheep, much smaller than mules and dead easy to handle and turn over.

If Sue lawton doesn't buy them, I will! I live in Somerset and can collect soon. Happy to pay £160 cash for both of them. I am used to small, large and medium breeds so handling not an issue.
