Shropshire smallholders June meeting
« on: June 08, 2012, 07:56:35 am »

Shropshire Smallholder Group
Thursday 14th June 7.30pm
at Leebotwood Village

Thurs June 14 Maynards Butchers – Practical demonstration on how to butcher a half pig.

Maynards Butchers, Maynards Farm at Weston-under-Redcastle, Shrewsbury are renowned for their cured and smoked bacon and ham. The demonstration at our meeting will give you an understanding of how to butcher a side of pork, and information as to where each joint of pork comes from and how best to use it. This could be particularly useful if you are likely to have to instruct an abattoir on butchering your pigs to your requirements.

There will be no meetings at Leebotwood in July or August but on Thursday 12 July and 9 August there will be visits to places of interest.

At the meeting there will, also, be:
The Members’ Exchange time, which will include the opportunity for
any announcements about items for sale or wanted.
The raffle.
The Members’ Table, where you can sell any smallholder items.

There will be a Bring & Share finger buffet after the demonstration so, if you are coming to the meeting and wish to stay for the buffet, please bring some food – it could be savoury or sweet, shop bought or home made.
To book for the talk please contact Paula Raymond by e mail to lucy@raymond606.freeserve.co.uk or by „phone on 01743 873986 by
Sunday 10 June.
Guests and visitors are welcome to the meetings and there is an entrance
fee of £1 & £3 respectively. Meetings are free for members.
