Pond plants
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:41:58 am »
Well, our new double pond is fast slowly approaching completion and I will soon have to start looking for plants, some to go in the water and some into the margins and wet areas.   I know from a previous pond at another house that there are plants to avoid, either because they will take over the pond, or because if they escape into the waterways they cannot be eliminated.

The latter I can look up, but which plants would you recommend, and which would you not recommend for a garden pond situation?  I remember for example that some mimulus is invasive, but that there are cultivars which are not.

Also any recommendations for suppliers either in the northern half of the country (will travel) or mail order suppliers?

I like Marsh Marigolds at the edge (and could bring you some to Woolfest, if you're going on Sat?)  :)

The only pond plant I've got so far jaykay is a marsh marigold    They used to grow round a 'secret' pond my brother and I found on our way to school and I still think they are magical  :)
I will be going to Woolfest on the Friday - otherwise the best spindles have been sold  :o so I will miss you, but thank you anyway
