Soay triplets

Hi  :wave:

Had a call today from a lady i sold a ram lamb to last year as he has lost 1 of his tags,i asked her how he was getting on and she said all is great and then she told me he has produced triplets and 3 sets of twins! he is only just now a year old,so how common is triplets in soays.

Our first time Soay mums (7 ewes) produced 3 sets of twins.

I read somewhere that Soay triplets were virtually unheard of!!!!

Not unheard of but very unusual.  I think it will be to do with the quality of grass and feeding, just as with other sheep.  :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:
