I was clearing out my workshop last month and dropped a coil of 4mm strimmer line. when I picked it up the loops kept catching on everything. in my frustration I just yanked it.. and saw a block of wood being pulled through a bucket handle.... a light bulb switched on!. so I cut an old hoe shank 8 inches long and drilled a couple of 4 mm holes in, cut a length of strimmer line maybe 3 ft long and threaded it through the holes to create a loop and then taped the handle tightly to stop the line from slipping.
I tried this out for the first time the other night and it worked a dream. the lamb was presenting head back and I couldn't get a good grip to pull it forward. so I tried the new loop. because the loop stays firm it was easy to push into the ewe and over the lambs head enabling me to pull it into position. bring the legs and head forward together and hey presto... a nice healthy lamb!.
definitely in my lambing box from now on
