Hi Melholly,
I'm glad you did post, I'm also on my first weaners, who turned 5 months last month.  I'm also feeding them on 1lb per day (split into 2 feeds) and they seem to be growing well.
I went on a course before I got them and was told to buy a special measuring tape that converts their current weight into dead weight (so you can tell more accurately when to send them off). I can't find one anywhere! Now you've posted this, I can see I don't need one - Thanks
Good luck with your first pigs- hope you're enjoying them as much as I am  ;D

hyperdrug sell them for £6 they also calculate cattle weights. you soon get a eye for pig weights without any aid.

not to bad at that weight maybe a bit light or lean but don't go overfeeding them now as they just put on fat another 2 months and it will be bye bye :farmer:

That makes more sense!

Just weighed my little Saddleback x OSB bruisers at 16 weeks, the heaviest (the boar) is just shy of 50kg.  They're not fat (I hope!)  They're on a little under 4lbs/head/day now; with my pure OSB last year I didn't increase this quantity, but these are bigger pigs so I will keep increasing a little - while watching their waistlines very carefully!
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
