Money bags

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to
your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese
Feng Shui. The one who does not forward.....will be without money.

Kinda interesting - read on!!!

This year we're going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
the age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of
the Money!!!

Hi Sandy,

eg, i was born in 1963, I am 48 just now so add 63+48=111
my daughter was born in 1994 and is 17 so 94+17= 111, it is the year born (do not add the 19 bit) and the age they will be on their birthday. I thought it was crap and i did calculate all my family birth year and age and it all came to 111

year of money can't answer this I'm still waiting have been for years. :wave: :wave:

..and next year it'll be 112 and the year after 113 etc.. hardly a surprise if you add the starting year and the gap to 'now'. It's just as daft as picking any number from 1-20 and adding that number to 20 minus that number..ooh, another surprise ..it's comes out 20..

I realise its a bit of light hearted fun but just to be pedantic, and relive a bit of boredom I thought I would throw a spanner in the works.

There will be 5 Friday's, Saturday's and Sundays in every 31 day month when the 1st lands on a Friday. The next one being March 2013, then August 2014.

What about Violet Wood,(UK's oldest person) she will be 112 next month and was born in (18)99. Making the answer 211?
 ;) ;)

 ::) I knew it was me missing something, I am hopeless with numbers, I just go blank. I remember being so embarressed when I was helping a class of boys who stuggled educationaly, they were given a figure, told to times it by 25 then times that by 4....I looked up to see all the boys had done it and I was still scribbling......not for ages did the penny drop, I just had to times by 100...see...numbers and me do not mix!!

the object of this was all the 3 numbers will be 111, triple 1's together.
Antz,
I see the other points you made but i personally thought it was that this year being 2011 and doing the sums as laid out and the answers all being 111 in 2011 it will never be repeated, oh well, i thought it was interesting as the maths did get my brain working

pgkevet,
I see you what you mean but as explained above this year is all the 1s   :wave:

Nothing wrong with number playtime.. until folk try to add a mystical theme to them.
There's probably whole websites dedicated to this sort of thing.
Some useful stuff though: If all the digits of a number add up to 9 then that number is divisible by 9:
34*9=306 => 3+0+6=9
4687*9=42183 => 4+2+1+8+3=18 => 1+8=9

If you like numbers look up the Trachtenberg System ... the history of it is amazing too :hshoe:

One I still use is to multiply by 11, push the digits apart, add them together and put the answer in the middle.

eg.,
12 * 11 = 1 -- (1+2=3) -- 2 = 132
24 * 11 = 2 -- (2+4=6) -- 4 = 264
53 * 11 = 5 -- (5+3=8) -- 3 = 583

You have to carry one over if the digits add up to more than 9 :

56 * 11 = 5 -- (5+6=11) -- 6 -> 616
67 * 11 = 6 -- (6+7=13) -- 7 -> 737

It works on larger numbers too:

246 * 11 = 2 -- (2+4=6) -- (6+4=10) -- 6 -> 2706  (carrying the 1 from the 10 over to add to the 6

1472 * 11 = 1 -- (1+4=5) -- (4+7=11) -- (7+2=9) -- 2 = 16192

(At a point it actually gets easier to multiply by 10 then add the original number, but it's more fun this way, I think!)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing
