How many laying boxes?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many laying boxes i would need for 25-30 hens? Does every hen need its own laying box?

no, they always seem to end up sharing, in my experience!
it would depend really on how they are housed & the size of the boxes.

and of course they wont all want to lay at exactly the same time ....

Hi

the recommended ratio is one box to 4 hens though hens always have their favorite and some times que up for one particular box. The darker or more discrete boxes are usually the more popular so try and avoid siting them too low down, in busy areas or close to the pop hole to maximise usage.
