We made our goat tractors to be able to manoeuvre between our walnut trees we planted. Sometimes when goats do not need milking everyday using a mechanical winch on a timer so we can take trips away.
You could do as we do and keep the chickens in the same tractors as the goats so you move both livestock every time. It’s a beneficial relationship as the chickens are constantly pecking the ground and eating any possible parasites before they infect the goats.
Our tractors we designed are made from four simple fencing panels which can often be salvaged for free from building sites once work has been completed. These Fence Panels are 3.5m wide & 2.0m tall. They come as standard with rounded top corners, which are more durable than square top panels, & with re-enforced corner brackets and are fit with anti-climb mesh which makes it a more secure perimeter fence panel and less prone to damage by the goats.
We turn them upside down fix four of them into a square and have a tarp over the top with a rainwater harvesting system into drinking water systems for both goat and chickens. We built a lightweight brood box for the chickens to get into and we can take eggs out every day. This doubles as a goat shack underneath. The entire thing is lightweight and can be moved with one person.
The thin ramp up is for chickens only to get into small entrance of the chicken coop. Underneath It’s all a great little place for the goats to sleep at night fixed just up off the floor. It moves when the entire thing moves. This way you never need to clean it out, just put it on fresh pasture.
