hi,my pigs will be ready in jan/feb time is there anyone in this area who can tell me where the best abbotoir around here is to take them to and how much they pay there?i have 4 to take and they are hairy,mangalitza and kune kune x's..i just want to be prepared rather than last minute panic!!!lol.. :farmer: :pig: ???

Check out the recommended abbetoirs thread http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/index.php/topic,9759.0.htmlfor your nearest one and give them a phone, they're usually really helpfull if you explain you're a newbie.

we're near denby so not too far away.
we're going in Jan to Sargents in uttoxeter. The lady was lovely on the phone but not been yet so can't comment on how good they are
prices seem ok
butchered and slaughter between £35-40
(thats labelled. cheaper if want it in a bag)
Pigs are done on Mondays and thursday

there is elliots in chesterfield. not sure about your side of M1

thanks for that we have one 15 mins away on baulker lane ,clipstone but ive heard they want £75 plus for slaughter and that seems excesive to me by the time ive bought,reared and fed them with that on top i could of bought 2 whole bigs from the butchers!!lol... ??? :P

they have priced it that high because they dont want or need your custom

hi there.i take my pigs to woods at clipstone £15+vat per pig and £10 if you want them butchered i find them helpfull and friendly

are they novice friendly, and do they butcher well

re.. g woods clipstone.phone and book them in arrive before 10 collect next day .as for butchery i don't know i have my own butcher
