It's good to see POL hens for sale which have actually been outdoors!  Your hens look healthy and lovely.  I wish we needed more but we have all we need at the moment.  I have noted your details though for when we do need to restock

Thank you, that is very kind. I agree, outdoors on grass is by far the best way to rear them. I was appalled to discover that most pullets for sale to the general public in the UK are shipped over from Europe and are then shipped on to various distributors around the UK via agents. I very much doubt they ever see the outdoors until they arrive in people’s gardens.

I knew most sellers don't breed their stock themselves, but I hadn't realised the birds were brought in from Europe.  Until the last few years we let our free ranging hens occasionally raise a clutch themselves, but it was a bit hit and miss.  Now we no longer have a cockerel, so we have to buy in replacement stock and it's been difficult with the pandemic.
What is the best time of year to buy hens from you?

I try and have hens available all year round but July up to the end of the year is when I have the biggest variety of breeds available. Just with the nature of the laying season of the pure breeds. Hatching season really kicks off in March.
