Liver fluke and alpacas
« on: February 15, 2020, 08:58:17 pm »
Hi

Does anyone know if alpacas need treated for liver fluke? And if so what products can be used on alpacas?

Thanks in advance.

A bit late.... & hopefully you’ve got your answer by now...
But if not - yes.  & personally we use endofluke oral cattle concentration - if in doubt on the dose ask your vet, as with many things alpaca it’s at your own risk. We’ve also used closamentin injectable but it’s very thick and it seemed to be a fairly traumatic injection for them. The endofluke has worked much better for both us & them, & ours cheerfully eat it when I mix it into their feed with a healthy dose of garlic granules, that makes administration at lot easier all around!

Thank you for your reply.
I hadn't found the answer anywhere else so thank you for taking the time to post.
I will definitely look into keeping my alpacas on a fluke drench routine along with the other livestock on my holding.
