How to treat flystrike when due to slaughter in a few days

Hi. We are due to slaughter our lambs in a few days and one is showing signs of flystrike. How do we treat/what to use without a withdrawal period and will it still be ok to slaughter?

You’ll need to clip away all the fleece until you hit clean fleece. We normally put crovect on then to kill any maggots. Meat withdrawal is 8 days so not long at all.

If the skin is broken you ought to wait until it’s healed really.

I use maggot oil to kill the maggots, I always do as twizzel suggests and trim back the fleece in the struck area and surrounding so it can dry out.

I wouldn't send for slaughter until the skin has totally healed and fleece has returned, probably another 4 weeks or so.
