Just had to share, 2 of my bantys, 22 weeks and 1 of my ducks, 19 weeks have started laying daily!!! I think another duckie might have started today as I found a very soft shelled one by the hen house, maybe it just 'dropped' out!!

Am very pleased, I better start baking.

Mum says I should blow the duck eggs and use for baking then sell the shells for craft, what do you think? She use to make the most fantastic faberge eggs before arthritis struck her down!

Duck eggs make the best cakes you will ever taste and yorkshire pudding there so rich and make them hit the oven top

I use them all the time in all my baking there fab

Congratulations! It is so exciting getting your first eggs. I took a photo of our first one and it was a double yoker so my husband and me could share it easily.

Cinderhills, I put my first egg in an egg cup and took its photo!! I was so pleased, I ran around the chicken garden like all my Christmas' had come at once! Its so great isnt it!

As far as I am aware the pleasure of picking up a beautiful egg fresh from the nest box never fades

I still remember the pride and joy of our first eggs, enjoy them, ponytrap! I use duck eggs for almost everything - except meringue baking.
now that's an idea for Easter, blowing the duck eggs out and decorating them. Send us pictures when you've done some!

ok so I admit I am abit of a townie when it comes to things like this ... how do you actually go about blowing the egg?!
I understand you need a hole to drain the insides out, do you need another to blow through?

somebody please explain!

wiki describes it better than I could! - same applies when you have to fill an egg with mustard (if you have an egg eater of a hen!)
