Title: Rant about councils???? Not too sure?
Post by: Sandy on September 07, 2010, 04:13:53 pm
Just a bit p'ed off with councils or maybe some one else? THey are trying to clean up and promote the local area and as we have a B&B this is great, there are many tourists that follow the Tower Trail and park just outside, take photos etc, our passing trade is very good too so now why am I moaning? A nice old house was owned by a local councilor then sold off to his son or so I am lead to understand, then it was sold to the council and was done up and looked very smart, the house is directly opposite and where all the tourists park when they visit, a nice family moved in and moved out within two weeks now we have loads of teenager's hanging out of thier windows at every oppertunity, a "responsible" adult that lets this happen, no curtains, just a blind downstairs and sheerts upstairs which seem to be opened when the lights are on so guests to our B&B can have a free peep show at the under aged occupants and they have only been here a few weeks!!! I doubt anything would be done and I do say, live and let live, after all I worked with many households similar and Fostered many children, but, I ask you, why house such a family in the historic bit that is so much in the public eye? I would not mind so much but it is very bad for our business as the first thing guests usualy see is some half naked young person hanging out thier window!!  rant over....nothing I can do but loose a bit of trade and waite for some or all of them to b e moved on...P.S I watch them all the time as nearly all of my windows face them directly and I don't think any neighbours can see them but us!!

I think Sandy you just have to keep writing and complaining to the Council. Every time these "people" do something out of order make a nuisance of yourself and phone/write to the Council. Talk to a local Councillor and try and get them on side explaining just as you said here about one minute promoting tourism and then the next allowing this to happen. It is a shame as that was always a nice house. Good luck.

I made one sort of complaint as initialy it looked like there was no adult, I hasten to add "responsible", now I do see a women in her mid to late 30's, also hanging out (lot of her body) the window too, not sure whats going on as they look and I know at least 2 of the young people are school age!! I still find it strange that they hang sheets in the windows durring the day then take them down at night!!! COurse, we have house full of men most of the time which makes matters worse, they find it funny!! but I recon it will be us in trouble one day!!!! I also think they are not suppose to be there and if they are, what a silly move, the young people are very vulnerable as the house is a few yards between both pubs, so they lean out, shout to people who have had a few too many and I can see a recipe for disaster!!!! And, it is a lovely house....

Never mind the vulnerability of those kids - what about our town!  It will get a bad name.  I think James is right, just keep on contacting the Council - and not just one department either.  And phone the police if you think they could cause trouble.

Go to your local Councillors - remember there will be three or four for your ward now, with the new voting system.

I will complain again as I am concerned about everything, TOurisum, Clackmannan's reputation, the young people, crime and if this was just my home I would not be so bothered but we bring a lot of trade into the area, and the couple that just left said about a lot of shouting in the night, I looked out to see the police car and several kids watching leaning out the window at 1.30am, the fight was unconnected I think but my guests that have booked again for next year must think thats normal for here. I also am concerned that I am the only householder effected and so I may get targeted and things get much worse if I do make complaints, also, what will happen? I doubt very much at all, they look like they would be proud to have an asbo!!! I also want to take photos but dare as I would look like a purve, for some strange reason they have a dark blue patterned sheet at one bedroom window durring the day and as soon as the lights go on, the sheet comes down!!!! I must add, teenagers left without proper controle will all do what they are doing, I have seen it myself so I do not blame them, I know one of the lads has had a hard time, father murdered, not sure if it was his mum but she is not around either...cycle of life aye!!

Take a video and show to the right people - see a solicitor in case you have to sue for damage to your business if you feel that's worth it. Or go to the local paper but you might get unpleasantries from next door after... :&>

get a good cctv and open up a pervert pay per view web site and make some money out of them at least  !!! ;D ;D ;D
Not really though . It sounds as though they are provoking for some reason or other , or they are just perverts ? weirdos , whatever ... Not sure what I would do in your situation there. Maybe tell everyone in the pub what is going on , when it is happening , and they will all go down and watch and maybe they (the perverts) will eventually stop once word gets round to the plod....
There are some strange people out there !!!  ::) ::) ::) mmm pots and kettles and the colour black me thinks  !! ::)

cheers

Russ

If you think these are uderage, then it's a child protection matter for police and social services. If you get no joy with the Duty Social Worker, contact the Council's Chief Executive direct. I woudl have no doubt that she'd put a bomb under someone - she's got more balls than the last three (male) Chief Executives.

I sent off an E Mail but have mixed feelings about retrobutions, this is a close knit place and they may have so many connections, I complained as we get families and people from all over the world as wella s loads of young men, I did think it was for thier benefit.  I have a strong urge to go around and ask the adult if she could have a word with them as they might not realise they can been seen...Rosmary, I thought about contacting SOcial Services but in my experience, nothing would be done as that sort of behaviour is commonplace and in the childrens homes I worked in things were just as bad if not worse (bit like some boarding schools!!) Russ, love that idea, I shall have to spread the word and hope the local pervs do their stuff as they will have more power than me..in fact..we many get a fair share of purves stay here, who knows  ::) Well thats life, and today we just put some plans into the council so better shut my trap!!!!

Spoke to someone who assures me they are tenants and are being kept an eye on, they want me to alert them to strange goings on!!! I think I will just see what happens and fingers crossed they will change and at least stop hanging out the windows when it freezes ::) Guests can have a gorp if they want then!!!!!

He returned 2 hours later, I bet he has been to visit his mum!!!

Sandy,
Have you thought about keeping a diary of what's going on for several weeks or so? It may be unpleasant but it builds up your ammunition when you go to the police or social services so that they will have to do something. Make a note of dates and times of meetings or phone calls, whom you spoke to, and what was agreed.
If you don't get any response from them then go and see your MP when he has a clinic and take your diary with you - he can make life fairly uncomfortable for people, especially if they're saying they'll do things, and don't!

Dan.

I am reversing my views as I saw our guests with thier curtains open and I think they were creating an audiance, nothing bad since they left. I think she is a foster carer like I was, I really want to go and say sorry to her, I also want to ask if we are a problem to her, we have Loads and loads of men who work in the area and some are very attractive (loads are) so not too suprised that they lean out of the window......we will see???
