I can personally recommend Bakers of Nailsea (Near Bristol) They are absouletly brilliant.. offer butchery if needed and having visited them myself I would never take any animal anywhere else, they are kind, considerate and as strange as this may seem it's a lovely place.

C snells wholesale south chard Its a third generation small family business with oldfashioned values with a excellent customer relation understanding. Nothing is a problem and when starting out the owner is only to pleased to sit down with you and go through what they can do for you ie prices, cuts ,etc if required you could even take your own animal to the end you could stand and watch what happens in the stunning pen! Gruesome im sure some people will say but evidence that this slaughterhouse has nothing to hide and in some smallholders cases in my eyes reaffirms the whole reason why we are doing this to provide the animals with a proper life and a painless end

I took my boys into STM at Henfield yesterday.  Seeing as I was in tears at the approach to the "farm" they were very kind, and the patience shown to my boys  by the handlers was fantastic.  Very happy to recommend them.

I'm also recommending Daysdrove in Bishops Castle, Shropshire. They did my boar at the beginning of august, killed, butchered and sausages in total came to £94. He killed out at 61kg. The sausages are delicious. ;)

I have 4 abattoirs listed in Derbyshire

Derbyshire   Buxton   F Redfern
Derbyshire   Chesterfield   R B Elliott & Son
Derbyshire   Glossop   J W Mettrick
Derbyshire   Swadlincote   G Collier

Of these I have a recommendation for J W Metrick as being "very nice and helpful", though Glossop is a bit of a distance.

Hi,

For anyone in North Yorkshire, we use BW & DJ Glaves in Brompton by Sawdon. They are about half way between Pickering & Scarborough.
They are very helpful, treat animals well when unloading. Would highly recommend

They slaughter and butcher on the premises, they also have a great shop. All theri meat and pies are delicious.

Another vote of confidence for Daysdrove Abattoir in Bishops Castle.

The whole experience was friendly, unhurried and relaxed. The pigs were well treated and there was no squealing. They were put into large pens with plenty of straw.

We met another person there unloading his pigs and got chatting to him. He had some lovely Welsh pigs so we took his number and will probably have a couple of his next year.

So - pigs away "safely" and a bit of networking into the bargain.

Result!!!

Susanna

Very pleased.

I deliver pigs and wild boar twice a week to the Laverstoke Abattoir Hants, the stock are well treated, the service is of the best I have had in the past.

We use CH Rowley Ltd at Old Arley, Fillongley, nr Coventry.  Definitely recommended, they slaughter pigs on a Monday and also butcher and make fantastic sausage.  I don't think you have any listed in this area yet, it would come under North Warwickshire.

Caerphilly - Dai Havard. Small abattoir with a very personal service. Dai butchers brilliantly, not like some abattoirs. Will cut exactly what you want. Very happy to take my pigs there. Have watched them being stunned and stuck and have no complaints.

Maesteg, mid Glamorgan - Maddocks Kembery. Family-run business with their own butcher's shop on site. Again, friendly service.

Cinderford, Gloucestershire - Ensor's. Big operation, very professional, and the slaughtermen have always treated my pigs with respect and patience.
BUT, as it's such a big operation, you might get stuck behind a triple-decker lorry with the haulier forcing pigs down ridiculously steep slopes. Happened to me a couple of times and the terrified squealing set off my pigs - previously lying quite calmly. If this happens to you, drive around the block for a bit until the lorry has gone.
