Title: Cockerel ratio to hens

I am sure I have started this topic somewhere on here, but old age has helped me to forget where - apologies.

How many lf hens can one lf cockerel cope with please.

10 would be ok iff the cock birds was hatched together then 2

I was always told to go by the rule a dozen hens to one cockerel, thet is how many he is able to protect, keep in order and fertilise.

Well my lucky chap has 29 ladies, no wonder he looks a bit frazzled  :o I don't hatch my own eggs so fertility is not an issue. He is just a rescue cockerel.
