I have 6 Apple trees which I planted 5 years ago. All was progressing well this spring with all 6 growing new leaves & flowers. However over the period of a week 2 of the Apple treees lost any leaves they had grown and now are virtually bare and nothing appears to be growing. Are they dormant or RIP? CAnt understand it all all. The remaining 4 are flourishing.

We were at Harlow Carr yesterday, ( RHS garden), and I noticed some trees looking very unhappy, drooping leaves, some herbaceous wilted.
I am struggling to keep up with watering, a large holly hedge has lost a lot of leaves, I can hear them just dropping as when I'm near.
Has it been very dry? Have you watered them at all?

Trunks ok. Have been protected since planting.

One of mine had a plastic cover - the kind that expands as they grow. Bunnies got under it.

Voles can be a big problem knowing at ground level, local group planted a lot of trees on our land, and voles were their main concern (along with deer). Guards had to be wiggled into ground.
