About a month ago I planted a dwarf pear tree in my heavy clay soil garden, in a shady spot. It was in flower, in a big pot and cared for. It did well initially, putting out lots of new shoots, but now, some leaves at the tips of the new shoots are curling along their long axis. Is this the result of some mineral deficiency in the soil, or something else? Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Have you uncurled the leaf and checked for aphids?

Yes, and nothing there. I wondered if it was similiar to peach leaf curl? I am in Staffs now, but had a pear tree in Devon with exactly the same unexplained problem.

I have a plum tree that does the same in the summer. Just the one tree.
