I read this in August issue of Pig World, it is my understanding that it is being rolled out in only certain counties and assured abattoirs, funnily enough one of the counties is mine North Yorkshire! but i've heard nothing about it.
This is what the article said in pig world:
Movements to slaughter
Pig-keepers who are already supplying an assured abattoir and who are completing their Food Chain Information on-line, should transfer to electronic-AML2 now, advises Andrew Knowles of BPEX.
'It is only a couple more questions and an added benefit is that you will get your meat hygiene inspection results back.'
To sign up for electronic movements go to www.bpex-aml2.org.uk. If you are already registered for the electronic Food Chain Information website you will be able to login with your existing username and password.
Electronic farm to slaughter notification is now operating in all assured abattoirs in England. The switch-over from paper forms to electronic notification of movement to slaughter will be in September.
Possibly they're only aiming it at the commercial boys for the time being who take zillions of pigs but mark my words it will be coming soon for the rest of us!! ::)

Hi,
We are already Registered with BPEX and do all the forms online when we take our pigs on the final journey.
It makes it a lot easier, saves paper ;D, and as the article says you get a copy of the meat inspectors report emailed to you.
What do you see as a problem with doing it this way?

I think it's a good idea. I currently email copies of my movement licences to my animal health officer anyway, and for me, it's so much better than sending in the actual licence. It saves paper like SFS says and it saves me actually having to remember to post letters (they've got a terrible habbit of getting lost in my bag ::))

Its the way they introduce these things, its just so incohesive as is everything to do with government! >:(
I just wondered when they were actually going to tell anybody about it.
I guess in my old age i'm just getting more anti establishment, red tape, rules & regulations, and the nanny state we seem to exist in these days. Doesn't anybody think or do for themselves anymore? What happened to commonsense? I also dislike the way they assume everyone has access to the internet, none of them obviously live in rural communities where broadband and or dial up is at best sporadic if it exists at all! Its a bit like them deciding to do away with cheques in 2018 now they're even talking about doing away with cash. Big brother is a coming and may already be here! ::) Guess i just remember how it used to be.

Whilst I'll freely admit that with most things if I can do it online I will.
But I haven't been keen to do it with our pig records, not entirely sure why and I've been ignoring these conversations.
Now it seems I can't - bottoms!
Our first one-way trip is booked for next week - think I'll stick with paper while I can.

Thats because Mo. Deep down you know all your records will end up on the back seat of a London cab, or in a dustbin in Soho or sent to the News of the World on a CD-rom!!! :P
I'm very anti at the moment having planning probs with a hagricultural building application. They want to know what we want to use it for?!! ::)

I too read this is in Pig world,and immediately logged on any registered for this (already registered for FCI),only to find that it only applies to certain abattoirs (the "assured" abattiors - the big pig processing guys), so unlikely that unless more abattoirs change over that it will apply. Oh and of course as the site says to comply with PRIMO 2007 you still have to carry a printed copy !!!

They probably do think its for a brothel............... for pigs as i advertise the services of my boar to willing and able ladies!!!! ;D

Reminds me of when I told a group of french ladies at a craft event that I had a small business producing rude products. Apparently cochon (pig) is used to describe dirty magazines.

Well I am a techie sort of person - early to adopt these kind of practices, so I went to fill in an AML2 as my boys went yesterday to the abbatoir. What a joke! I have no idea how their IT people get jobs! The form filling in for the AML2 - you have to use tab for EVERY SINGLE LETTER!! (It doesn't automatically go from one space to the next) When I came to the dates section it doesn't allow you to put 2010. I had to put 201 and then manually write on the paper which I had to print the extra 0. I love technology - but it has to work!

G, is your abattoir listed then to let you do this? or is this just to dave you writing a manual one?

It is to save me writing a manual one oaklandspigs. I don't have the triplicate forms, so usually I have to write out three copies and thought - excellent! I won't have to do that any more!

Talking of on-farm brothels, many years ago when i was courting a young lady who kept a horse a stables, one of the owners of the yard came over to the farm where I lived with a view to buying some hay. She was a middle-aged, very-horsey, spinster. Being polite, I offered to show her around the buildings which included the bothy where the men had their breakfast.
The next time I saw my girlfriend, she was doubled up with laughter and eventually explained that on returning to the yard, the boss had told everyone how I showed her round my brothel.

No, Mrs Pig comes from much less horsey-stock. Much more manageable! (Only joking).
