Title: post and rail
Post by: schoolfarm on March 04, 2018, 04:34:59 pm
Hi all,
I have bought circa 400m of split pots and 3 rail fencing. Is there a trick to ensuring my posts are bang on where my  rails will nail? I don't want to have to make too many cuts so if there's a little trick it would greatly appreciated. Also are there agreed heights of the ground for first rail?

Thanks everyone

Do you mean at ends of your rails? If so then the simple answer is to lay one rail on the ground as a gauge, with one end at the centre line of your first post. Put in the other end post, lining it up with the rail end; add intermediate posts as needed, if using 12' rails then posts at 6' or 4' centres.
