Title: Anyone doing any auto-sexing crosses this year? I'm interested in hatching some
Post by: WoodlandsDevon on February 18, 2018, 07:22:09 am
If anyone is doing any auto-sexing/sex linked crosses (particularly good laying potential) or any other interesting crosses i would be very interested in buying some hatching eggs. I heard of one back along which was crossing a buff Orpington male with light Sussex female - all the female offspring are buff and all the males are light coloured as day Olds. Not sure what the laying potential would be like but would be interested to see. Advice welcomed.
Please pm me or reply to this post if any are available
Thanks :)

You could perhaps consider Legbars, which are an auto-sexing breed in themselves?  Excellent layers although their temperament is a bit feisty for my own tastes and the eggs a bit on the small side.

Silver Grey Dorkings. Good layers, nice eating and auto sexing.

What are you hatching them for? I find people would rather buy pure bred than cross bred pullets so do cream legbars and welsummers.
