Hi I'm Carol I joined yesterday, after about 4 years of reading Rosemarys diary and most of the forums and recipes!
We moved to our home near Selby 3 years ago and one of the first things we did was build our chicken run! As I mentioned last night we have 12 chickens now, and, earlier this year we (and our very kind neighbour) built a duck run which is joined onto the chook run -and now have 1 drake (Charlie) and 5 ducks all campbells.
The ducks were just pol when we bought them and are still very timid, much more so than the chickens who follow us around the garden like little dogs!
We (and our kind neighbour) put 4 raised beds in earlier this year for veg. Our 4 year old grandson loves eating the raw veg !
Well I am going to see if Rosemary has a recipe for Plum jam as we have a trailblazer full of fruit !
Bye for now
Carol

HI
Another newbie here, from Whitby North Yorks. I have been fattening weaners, GOS, sending them for slaughter/butcher and then thouroughly enjoying the fruits of my labour, don't they taste fab!!!! I also have a few hens, a mad terrier and a "proper" farmer for a husband. I have two piggies left one is for pork and the other hopefully will be big enough for ham/bacon, so I'm having a go at wet curing- all tips welcome. Also want to have a try at smoking the bacon, we have a fantastic smoke house in Whitby so I'll try them. Will keep u informed of my progress or disasters!!!

I will be asking loads of questions when /if we start with pigs, we are concerned we won't have enough time to spend with them as we both work long hours. But I am hopeful !!
