Is that Bertie?  In your other photo of him sitting in a tree, he has a clear pic of himself flying, across his chest in pale feathers.

Bertie is here in East Carmarthenshire .... and was sat in his usual tree today so don't think that is Bertie :)

No, this chap is in Norfolk. There was a family of four quartering a large field, maybe 100acres, looking for grub. The snap is interesting because contrary to what you might expect, this bird, Norfolk Nobby maybe, is taking off not landing. If the option is there they will face the wind and use it to get easy lift. Clever stuff.
