Title: Brilliant device for clean water

I recently purchased a mini cup drinker. it fits on to any sized plastic drum. I have mine on a 30ltr bucket with the lid. it provides clean drinking water everytime. anyone who would like to purchase one can find them at www.gamekeep.co.uk at a cost of £7.95

That looks like a really good idea I have ducks running with my hens and they dont half make a mess of the water.

Its brilliant. because the bucket is sealed you have no trouble with algae or dirt or Pooh. I only have to fill it up every 3rd or 4th day. because there is a good volume of water it stays cool.

Thanks for the information Craig - I've ordered a couple of the mini cup drinkers as a result of your recommendation!

They look to be just what I need.

Sorry - I don't really understand how it works. Do you need to make a hole in the bucket/water container?

Yeah drill a hole in the side of the bucket, and attach the mini drinker with the seal to the inside, then just fill it with water and put the lid back on. the water then just keeps topped up

I bought two of these from Ebay, £6.50 each. I put them on a 50L plasterers bucket, the sort with vertical straight sides. I found that the placement of the filling holes tended to get clogged with gunk, just silt, mud, grit, grass etc... Maybe in with birds who aren't free ranging it might have worked better. Not to be deterred I put them on a 300L waterbutt. Had this idea that I'd twist them upside down to clean them out, the water pressure of the large butt would clean them out. This did work better. But as with most water, it froze solid when temp dropped. Then cracked as the ice expanded inside them.

oh I never thought about the freezing water DJ but I havent had any problems with the holes yet.
