Sounds like another TAS meet is brewing - Cafe at 2pm maybe?  If you don't have a badge make yourself a placard to hang round your neck!  Then we won't miss each other like at the RHS

Yeah back to normal again thank Nicki. Thanks again for the eggs, just been out checking on her and she is sitting on the eggs clucking away, quite proud of herself.

Re the poultry sale it may just be a day out for us, I will let you know but I definately am buying nothing.

Must try and go as I would like some new chickens. I would like something a bit different from my hybrids, as long as they are good layers.

Apologies folks................really thought the sale list would be up by now :(
I think they're busy with a big sale - maybe next week  ???
It doesn't bother me too much - I'm going anyway  ;D ;D ;D I've got to drop my kids in Lanark at 10am, so will be there 10 minutes after. I think I'll manage to recognise Annie  ;) ;D :-*  How about a quick meet before the sale to put faces to names then a sit down in the cafe around 2pm (that way we won't be walking past people that we could be talking to  ;D)

After having a look at the online catalogue, i've decided i'm gonna save my Barrs bottles up for the Rare Breed sale on the 19th instead.

I hope you find some nice chooks HH!
 Wish I was coming!
INSTEAD I am going into the office to announce that I am dissolving the business partnership. I have discovered that my business partner has been effectively stealing from me by drawing around £1000 a month more for himself than he deigns to pay me. As  a result I have had 2 late mortgage payments this year. I have also discovered that he MAKES one eighth of the money I do for the firm. I feel such a fool for trusting him and leaving him in charge of firm finances. He said he would do it as I am "no good" at it and he has sole access to alll the bank passwords and accounts info etc.  A chat with our accountant last night put me fully in the picture and I am shocked and angered and saddened. God knows what he has been taking without me knowing over the past 4 years.
Stressful day ahead hence I have been up since 5am, smoking fags and fretting!  :'(

Greed is bad, but deceit is worse.  :(

Good luck with that.

Anybody know what time the sale is likely to finish - I have not been before - does it go on after lunch, as I know I cannot get there in the morning.

Hi Simon, yes it goes on after lunch, I don't remember the exact order it runs in - but the pigs were last to be sold last time round - maybe see you there (I've got a blue buggy with a red haired curly boy in it - he'll be making LOTS of noise lol!)
Valr - OMFG ! I hope your day goes as well as it can. I'm continually amazed by what some people think they can get away with - have they never heard of KARMA ? Get your day out the way, then get yourself close to some piggies - it's amazing how quick they de-stress you !

Sorry to hear that, VAl.  Come round for a chat if you like - finance stuff I Do understand - and how to detect fraud - I presume he will be charged?

Well I managed to get there at 2 and saw the last half hour of the poultry sale in the hall. Interesting to see - not as many people as I thought but a lot may have left by then. At least I know where it is now and a little of how it works; and it was interesting to see the pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens and other fowl. Helpfully some folk had put on the outside of the cages what type of chicken etc were inside. Good fun watching the purchasers trying to get their wares into their boxes but unfortunately I did not see any escapes. I saw a few redhaired kids but none in a blue buggy so I think HH may have left - did you get any pigs or poultry? -  or did anyone else manage to pick anything up. It looks as if you need to watch for someone who knows what they are doing and maybe bid for the same thing. I would not like to find myself bidding against someone else who knew nothing too, and end up hiking the price to ridiculous levels. I thought I saw some of the staff there having a laugh at the price that one item got!? I think it will need a few trips to pick up what is going on, before actually buying anything. Some of the chickens looked great though so it is lucky I had no way to transport them and nowhere to put them once I got home or I may have come back with a surprise for Cheryl!  :) Good fun

I went, I saw, I bought  ;D ;D ;D
Got 5 white sussex (think maybe 2 or possibly 3 cockerals though) for £10 and bought 4 GOS cross gilts - only brought 3 home though  >:( Would you believe that someone took the other one and left a boar in it's place............a totally different looking one at that ! They stole my SPOTTY one  :'( :'( :'( they were £34 each.
Other sales were - 2 saddlebacks with litters (hmmmm maybe 1/2 saddleback, but the colour mix on the piglets was gorgous, some grey saddleback, some black saddleback, some just black) one sold for £160, she looked really thin and had lumpy teats and the other who was in better condition (and a nicer pig ;)) sold for £270. There were 2 saddleback (cross ?) sows, 4 years old, never been to the bore - huge they were, absolutely MASSIVE, and great natured girlies - do you know, no one bid ! They wouldn't even pay £30 for them - thankfully I had my head in charge and not my heart or it would have been a real squash in the trailer  ;)

But more importantly, I didn't blow the budget - ROLL ON AUGUST 19TH AND THE RARE BREEDS SALE  ;D ;D ;D

Yet again went, saw, bought more than I should have :D :D, some fine looking fowl and some real sad sorry states, black rocks and warrens with hardly any feathers and in one cage one hen was slowly being eaten alive by the others, and did the auctioneer really need such a loud microphone with that much feedback, still managed to keep up with the prices though and grabbed a few bargains. Not allowed to the next one though as I have my full quota of hens now. :chook:

My Mrs family live in Lanark, but were not visiting this weekend! what a shame, I would have loved to have gone along just to see.
