Title: Feeding calf pellets?
Post by: Penninehillbilly on November 13, 2017, 05:12:50 pm
Hi
I have some calf pellets left, can't find the label, so not sure of additives but they are Mole Valley?
Any thoughts on feeding some to the hens till they are used up? About 5KG left, can't throw it away  Same size as layers pellets, put just  a few down tonight and they ate them. Hens are mainly on whole soaked wheat.
Also got geese, could I give them some?

Ideally - no, probably not a good idea.. However, my ducks will and do clear any feed they can get near, including ewe nuts, lamb creep, goat mix..

If my birds are quick, or my goats slow, then they get the all-rounder nuts first. I'm amazed how much they can neck before I find out and stop them. I've never seen them have a problem and their egg production didn't waver - they are pretty omnivorous beasts

Well, that was my thought, they are known for clearing everything up, after having a chat with a friend, I'll be giving the goats a few, i thought after reading info you hadn't to feed them after 12 weeks, but that may be advice because of the cost, so I'll use a few there as well.

It won't do your poultry any harm at all. The main difference between them is they are higher in fibre than poultry food so the latter is a more efficient feed.

I have a bag of sheep coarse mix that's gone past it's best- reckon it's any good for chooks or ducks?
