Title: New pig keeper, hind leg lameness
Post by: Jojopops70 on November 06, 2017, 11:00:10 pm
Hi everyone. I'm a new pig owner however my father in laws family had pigs many years ago, so he has some experience with weaners and is around to help.
I picked up my first two GOS weaners Saturday, everything was going well until yesterday one of them was suddenly lame on her hind left leg, not wanting to put any weight on it at all and it appears to be swollen around her hip, she has been eating and drinking and hopping about but mostly laying down.
She's much the same today and not bearing any weight on her leg but the swelling seems to have improved a little. Im basically after some advice and experience, I will look to get the vet out tomorrow to assess her, if there's still no improvement in the morning, however are sprains/strains common in weaners and easily repaired with rest?  Many thanks for any advice given.

Only just spotted this query.  What did the vet say?
