Post by: Paul and Caroline on October 26, 2017, 05:36:25 pm
Hi

Does anyone know of any courses in erecting stock fencing please - if possible Southern Scotland or Northern England but not exclusively......

google, and trial and error!  ;D

I've just fenced only my third pig pen and am approaching contractor quality (if not speed).

There are some principles to learn and adhere to but it isn't rocket science.
In terms of effort i'm lucky to have a tractor mounted post knocker, i wouldn't really want to be doing it by hand.

i would contact a contractor in your area and offer some free labour , under the condition you only want to learn to do some for yourself. you will soon pic up the basics and repeat it.

Big iron bar - and a beetle for posts. Gate posts will need scissor shovel.

I never worry about it being straight left to right as long as its straight to the fence. Cos I used cheap 2 quid posts - and we all know they will be gone and your doing it again within 4 years ;)
