Title: Quail feed
Post by: Alex_ on July 12, 2017, 12:20:56 pm: I looked in the search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Those who keep and breed quail, What do you feed them?
Everywhere I look it says it needs to be super high protein, At least 25% protein

but the feed I look for all under 25%

Any ideas or advice from the experienced is appreciated.

Our family Business was selling eggs..Quail to Ostrich and everything inbetween. This is what we fed our quail

Interesting read. I have done a lot of reading and some do say that 25% is minimum protein levels.

I will save those pellets for when I finish the enclosure

Should be able to get it from any reasonable sized feed merchant but they may need to order it for you.

They seem to do fine on it and lay really well. Look well and no problems when we've bred them.

Also feed a bit of mixed corn, lettuce, grass, courgette, apple and so on.

Same here, layers mash with lettuce etc, and also millet seed.

Just spoke to a bloke in the next village and this is what he does.
