Title: hp needed for 3m power harrow and seed drill
Post by: ho !sheep! on May 29, 2017, 08:25:40 pm
As the title says
We have been offered more land and some equipment inc a 3km accord power harrow and seed drill we have 130 acres out of 150, currently on arable. We are looking at keeping 40ish acres on rotation and the rest to pasture  so we would like to do the work ourselves. Currently we have a 65hp compact tractor running and a now dead case 495 engine went bang with flames oops no one got hurt thankfully. So we are looking to replace it the land has been well workerd so how much hp on
Gentle slopes will we need for the power harrow and seed drill looking at 120ish It's well worked clay chalk lome is 120hp enough?

Thanks for your thoughts
25 acres of solar is just waiting for final planning approval, everything is contracted until October so not in a rush now

Thank-you for your reply that's handy as we really  don't want a huge tractor as most of the year it will be under used as the sheds have fairly low roofs.
