Title: Rhubard
Post by: Jakebob on May 21, 2017, 11:22:01 pm
We never do anything to our rhubarb other than eat it! But this year it's just not doing well at all. I think in future we need to look after it or is anyone else having the same problem this year?

Mine is doing well even though it didn't get its usual dose of goat manure over winter.

Mmm, that's maybe where we have gone wrong as we haven't split them. What would you suggest we do? Anything just now or nothing till later in year?  Thank you.

My rhubarb likes a lot of water so drought may be a problem.
Don't split until it's died back in autumn.

It likes split back end of the year, mulched with a big rich manure over winter and watered well in spring.  So if you haven't split it, didn't manure it and didn't water during the drought we had, it won't be happy.  Good news is rhubarb is a survivor and will drink the recent rain and maybe you could help it out a bit til the autumn and split next time around then feed.

Thank you all....we will wait and see what it does just now and then split later in the year.
