We have a profusion of the stuff currently. Do others blanch it before freezing? I day no, her indoors says yes

Won't it al go mushy when cooking from frozen? I have to say, our excess at the moment is devoured by the caprine members of our family (in moderation). Never tried freezing it...

We love PSB too but I never freeze it.  I grow the summer sort as well as the winter, so I have enough year round.  Excess gets fed to the sheep or left to flower for the bees (it's currently just touching 7' tall).

Don't think it freezes well but you could try both ways in small batches and compare - report back too!

I pick and eat mine til something else comes through or it flowers, at which point I dig up the rest and give the plants to the chooks to play with.  My late mother brought us up eating it raw dipped in vinegar as a 'salad' back in the 70s, so I can get through a fair bit between that, steamed and baked in the oven with a load of root veg..

Can you give the whole plant to sheep or just the brocolli heads? We have some that have started to bolt.

My goats love to chew on the hard stem... so all the plant (minus the root)) goes to them.
