Just back from a holiday in the Scottish Highlands. We were on the shores of Loch Ewe in Inversadale, close to Poolewe and Gairloch.
So many notices of first registration of crofting.
Quite fascinated by the history of crofting and crofting life today.
Anyone know of any good books/ other places to find information about crofting?

Lots of literature on crofting out there...
The Furrow Behind me is an enjoyable read - Autobiography
Angus MacLellan.
Crofting Agriculture - a collection of practical articles published throughout the war is good
Frank F Darling
Crofting years -still on my bookshelf but looks interesting.
Francis Thompson
Katherine Stewart's books - Crofts and crofting, A croft in the hills
A very civil people - ranging essays from John Lorne Campbel the old owner of Canna - not particularly crofting focused but interesting.
The Making of the Crofting Community - proper history
James Hunter
Clanship to Crofters War - proper history
T M Devine.
Hope you enjoy them - all widely available on Wordery - saves giving those meanies at Amazon any custom!
