Title: Help! Pigs ate whole bag of food!
Post by: Sarahjane610 on March 13, 2017, 04:55:47 pm
I've got two boys who are about to go off to slaughter (in about a week) and this morning I let my teenage daughter do the morning run.  Silly girl left the bin just inside and the paddock and the boys had the lot during the day.  Must have been 15kg of food!  They look fine, moving around, drinking, pooing  (and believe it or not still looking for more food.....). Should I be worried?  What do I need to watch for?

They'll just pooh a lot today  :D

They'll be fine. Did they really ate that much, though, isn't a lot of it trampled into the mud?
Pigs, love them. Mine never seemed to stop being hungry, there's a just a little rest between feeds.

I'd be inclined to give them just a handful of feed tonight and make sure the drinker is working OK.

We once had a sow escape and eat about a quarter of a dump bag full of carrots. no ill effects and still wanted her dinner pretty much straight afterwards.
