Title: Installing Mains electric fencing
Post by: MiriMaran on June 20, 2010, 09:27:21 pm
For the last God knows how long we have used electric fencing running off a car battery.  We are now thinking that it is time to get mains electric fencing.  What I am really wanting to know is what you need to buy and how you set it up.  We would run it off the garage and would presumably have to sink the main wire in the ground.  Also is any advice about where to site the where the electric will run to and from.  Basically any thoughts, advice and hints would be great before we set it up and go "Oops wish I had thought of that earlier!"  Thanks in advance.

Do a google search for Gallagher fencing equipment to find your nearest supplier. You will need to puchase an energiser which connects to the mains through a normal 3 pin plug. From this you will run an energiser wire to a convenient spot where it can be clamped onto your galvanised wire fence (on insulators) or ribbon fence. You will also need to drive in a good copper earth rod which also connects back to your energiser. The Gallagher information book gives very good advice on various set-ups and how to get the best out of the system.
