Just curious for rating and planning purposes. Any rules on what you can sell?

Answering my own question but I suspect that specific planning permission is needed as I have seen planning application in a local newspaper for a change of use to a farm shop.

I think that the boundary between needing permission and not is crossed when you start selling products that are not produced by yourself - but you get away with what you can - I know of several people with farm shops who sell loads of carrots and veg that most certainly have not been grown on that site - just look at the soil on the veg and then look at the type of soil they are farming  ;)
