Title: Vitamin D and confined chickens
Post by: clydesdaleclopper on December 07, 2016, 11:32:04 pm
So I've worked out that the only way that I can keep my flock away from wild birds is to confine them in part of the barn. My concern is that this length of time in confinement will lead to a vitamin D deficiency. Does anyone know wether they are likely to need supplementing with vitamin D and if so how do I go about it. I tried google and the paper I read made my brain hurt.

I shouldn't imagine 30 days would be significant.

Probably only an issue if you want to use eggs for early incubation... maybe they need an SAD light....
