Title: What's this (and what do I do about it?)
Post by: benkt on September 25, 2016, 07:57:39 pm
Hi All,
Found this on Cyndi's neck this morning - one of our older milkers. Looks a bit like a swollen insect bite. Could it be anything else and should I do anything different with it?

Ta,
Ben

I'd use some spray on it in the first instance. It does look like a bite but is it swollen?

One of mine had an abscess on her cheek which is probably due to a thorn from a hawthorn branch moving through into the cheek. It had to be lanced and then cleaned out every day. Do you keep antibiotics in? It might be worth given her some.

Or bathe a few times a day with warm salt water, keep it open so that any infection washes away.
