Title: week old chicks just died same day ??

does anyone know what could have caused my two apparently healthy guinea fowl chicks to die on the same day they were under heat lamp and eating chick crumbs ...yesterday fine today dead

Coccidiosis? It doesn't necessarily include bloody faeces, can easily happen without any blood.

agreed, we lost a bunch in quick succession last month, no particular evidence

Cocci most likely.  I raise chicks in a new cardboard box with fresh shavings changed every few days.  Keets are notoriously fragile for the first few weeks - quite different from when they're mature.
