Title: We have decided on Ryelands!
Post by: NewLifeOnTheFarm on September 04, 2016, 12:04:02 pm
After our visit to Thainstone yesterday we have decided that Ryelands are perfect for us. We really enjoyed having a good look around and getting a feel for prices.

So my next questions are, private sales or auction?

And does anyone know of anyone who would be selling ewes in lamb next year, so that we can keep our ewe lambs to grow the flock, before getting our own tup?

Thanks
Charlotte

Great choice!  We have recently bought four coloured Ryelands - we love them, they are very friendly.  We checked on line and with the Ryeland society and got ours from a lovely couple in Brentwood.  We hope to show the, so went for lambs from a registered flock.

Good luck  :sheep:

If you are on FB join the Scottish Ryeland Group page (and the group for a modest £10 / year). They organise events and often have stock for sale. RFBS has a list of breeders on the webiste.

Welcome to Ryelands

Fantastic choice! We started with 5 two years ago (first sheep we've ever kept) and now have 9, which is about as much as our land will stand. They are docile, affectionate and so rewarding. You will love them.
