A couple of my sheep developed scabby ears last year around this time of year, anyone have the same problem? no sign this year, but lambs decided that as they have to have two tags that they are going to dispose of at least one.

If they are white my big ewe gets very crusty ears its a reaction to t he sun i put suncream on her ears muzzle and girly bits ( extreme dock) yes I know i'm daft but otherwise they are prone to cancers;

Believe it or not it's the black ones for some reason. Tried fly cream as they rubbed the ears thus making them bleed, e45 cream and camrosa. Nothing seemed to work until the autumn came so seems to be sun related. Anyone have any ideas.

Babies sun block will work if worried...........some of mine get it some don't. I don't worry!

If you have a lot of thistles or brambles in your fields there is a chance it could be a mild orf infection. sometimes it can be restricted to ears but mostly it spreads to the nose eyes and mouth. worst cases show open ulcers around moist areas of the face. I hope i'm wrong tho'
It is infectious and can be passed on to humans so take care investigating

checked with vet, not orf, didn't think is was, as have seen in the past. He thinks is is a reaction to the midges (i.e they are biting and they are rubbing), but what doe's he know. Have got one case of fly strike on lamb will Vetrazin again if it ever stops raining here.
