Title: candling eggs
Post by: gingercloverbramble on May 22, 2010, 02:58:05 pm
We have eggs in our incubator which are due to hatch on wednesday.  we candled them for the first time a couple of days ago (which was very exciting!) but I am wondering how many times you can candle them?! my incubator and candler instructions don't say - they just say that the eggs can be candled from day 7.

I suppose you can do it whenever but remember every time you open the incubator you are cooling it down. Good luck.

as James says whenever,
I understood that day 7/8, then once more before you stop turning was enough to check fertility and not to lose too much heat (or make the chicks dizzy!)

all the best for your hatch...
