Title: Who's chick is it anyway...?
Post by: Jukes Mum on August 19, 2016, 11:23:29 am
We have been inundated with broody hens recently.
We moved one into the secure nursery paddock and she hatched 6 chicks. In the meantime another 6 hens have gone broody. This morning 5 very proud hens have come out parading one chick!
Poor confused hens. Hey-ho, little chick has 5 doting mummies

Please excuse the state of the very moulty hens!

awww  Well 5 is better than none. I would watch them closely in case they don't want it any more or if they satrt fighting over it. My hens have started moulting too and they look a bit worse for wear ::)

Trouble is they may have come off their own in response to the cheeping,  letting their own die, did you check them? If it hasn't been cold there they maye still survive?

Broody number 6 is still sat on the other eggs.
